Caregiver Action Network's recent webinar featured caregiver and advocacy perspectives from community leaders, including Kristy Stonehill, Executive Director, whose lived experience continues to inform mental health awareness efforts locally and beyond.

Titled From Daily Management to Sustainable Care: Long-Acting Medication, System Barriers, and Caregiver Relief, the webinar examined long-acting medication options in the context of continuity of care for individuals living with serious mental illness. The discussion addressed treatment pathways as well as emotional, logistical, and systemic challenges caregivers may encounter, including delayed diagnosis, fragmented care, and ongoing uncertainty.
Kristy participated in the webinar by sharing professional perspective alongside lived experience as a caregiver supporting a loved one with a psychotic illness. Her remarks focused on caregiver experiences navigating complex care systems and the need for caregiver-informed approaches to mental health support.
The webinar was moderated by Caregiver Action Network and included participants representing clinical expertise, nonprofit leadership, and lived experience. Panelists included psychiatrist Dr. Carolyn Rekerdres, nonprofit leader Lisa Bright of the Will Bright Foundation, and family caregiver and advocate Maria Case of Kompashion.
Topics discussed included caregiver self-advocacy, communication with treatment teams, and the availability of educational resources intended to support caregivers.
This program was presented for educational purposes only and did not provide medical advice or diagnosis. The webinar received external support.
